SA BRUNSWICK(First patten)TREFFEN

Hello chaps,i just thought I would post this update(and new pictures)of the SA BRUNSWICK TREFFEN(first pattern)that I bought from Jamie Cross Militaria. The pin has been re-soldered at some time in the past, but that doesn't worry me to much as these first pattern little tinnies were not intended originally to be a well worn and valued award. As ever Jamies service was first class. Leon.

No decal SS helmets?

Since helmets manufactured after August 1943 not have factory glued stickers, I wonder if its possible to identify an SS helmet that is made after that date?
There's SS helmets without decals for sale, but these are, for example, with the owner's grade and name painted on the inside. Is there a way via the serial number and manufacturer identification on a helmet without decals can be identified as a genuine SS helmet?
Sometimes in this forum you write that "the helmet has the right serial number" to be an SS helmet. So then it should be possible even without the decals to identify an SS helmet?
It would be interesting to know more about this.

Opinions on USMC cover

I really suck at seeing a good one. This one looks okay to me, but then again I haven't spent hours observing others or even seen one in person. Says it came from a family friend who was in the 4th marines but I heard so many stories that I rarely buy them anymore. Also said fixed bail but I see otherwise with the crooked bail. Stitching on side is apparently a field repair. Price is reasonable if indeed it's a world war 2 usmc cover. Has seaman liner.

Third Reich art by Schmidt-Hofer = Otto Schmidt Hofer?

Does anyone here know if Third Reich pieces (such as Hitler busts and plaques etc.) maker marked "Schmidt-Hofer" are supposed to be referring to the artist and sculptor Otto Schmidt Hofer?
If this is the case then these pieces must be either A: Very early pieces (pre-1925), or B: Produced later on in some kind of company/legacy capacity... this seeing as this particular "Schmidt Hofer"died in 1925.
So, either that or they are all simply embellished fake/reproductions.... they could of course have been produced by some other "Schmidt-Hofer" but I have simply been unable to locate any other period makers with that particular name, plus it would seem that most of these pieces bear the likeness of this artists actual signtaure... So, yes... confused and also not knowledgeable at all

Dealing with fakes

i do not personally have many fakes if any but i constantly see fakes posted on the forum !! so my question is what should be done about these fakes what should people be told to do with them ?? should they be destroyed,, should they be engraved as fake !! i know some people have boxes they put fakes in but what happens when they pass on and the collection is sold and then the badge is back in circulation again for a young or less knowledgeable collector to waste his money on what do you guys think should be done to the fakes badges, armbands, patches and so on just wondering and interested in you guys ideas !!
