I discovered that my laptop used much more cpu/ram than it used to so I had a virus check up on MSE and found this :VirTool:Win32/Obfuscator.XZ. I tried to remove it without success can someone please help me?
I have an Asus Notebook with Windows 8. I am having a problem with a Matshita UJDA 740 CDRW/DVD removable drive. The drive shows up in my control panel and says it is working properly. When I insert a disc of any type the light on the front of the unit blinks and nothing else happens. Also I am using a USB2.0 hub. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I posted about this in another thread where it was revealed that my graphics card was under powered. I got a new psu with more than enough wattage and had it installed. Since then I've still had issues not being able to run anything graphically intensive, my driver crashing and my screen going black briefly, and bluescreening. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
I didn't know where else to put this so I apologize ahead of time. I am working on this computer running Windows 7. After running several anti-virus/malware programs (Avast, Microsoft Essentials, Malwarebytes, EmsisoftEmergencyKit) several viruses were removed. I didn't note the names at the time. Prior to the removal, certain features wouldn't work, e.g. when clicking on a Control Panel applet, nothing would run. Those things are working now. I am able to get online, but certain items fail, such as updating Microsoft Essentials. I checked and Firewall is not running, nor can I get it running. I have tried running MS Fix It, importing registry entries for Base Filtering Engine (BFE) and Windows Firewall Authorization Driver (MPSDRV) - doesn't seem to be running... I am open to ANY ideas. H
I am using Firefox 21.0 as a browser and suddenly instead of opening my.msn.com (my home page) it opens the msn.com home page. I sign into my account and go to my.msn.com after clicking "remember me" and then select my.msn.com as my home page by dragging the butterfly logo to to home button. The next time I open Firefox I have to repeat the process. Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening?

When I attempt to execute a prior system restore checkpoint, Windows-XP appears to go through the appropriate steps (restarts), but comes back and states the system restore was not completed. Is there a known bug or perhaps my computer's systems be missing a key instruction to actually perform a restore? After noticing that the restore would not work on a system generated restore/checkpoint, I created/forced my own restore/checkpoint, but neither process (my own forced restore date, nor XP generated restore date) actually restores the system. Any thoughts?
I'm using Windows XP and MS Word 2002. Before Hotmail was replaced by Outlook, when I received a Word file, I just opened it and saved it to the folder I wanted it in. Now in Outlook, I'm lost. I know that the file is being sent as a Word file or Pdf. My options are "View online" or "download all as zip." I have WinZip, so I click on download all as zip. When I double-click on the file in WinZip, I get "Windows cannot open this file. To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it." And then I get nowhere. When I click "view online", I'm taken to MS Word App. Download takes me to "open with" or "save file." If I choose "save file" I find the file in Library. I double-click on file and I get an empty MS Word page. When I check my "downloads" the file is not there. Please he
I have Sony Vaio PCG - 7113L computer. I want to reset computer to original out of the box settings, no recovery discs. Password to windows unknown, and cannot get windows to open. Hi, I am trying to set up a Synology NAS DS212j to have remote access. I'm using a Netgear DG834PN router, trying to host it via a no-ip.com DDNS. In trying to get it set up manually every time I tried the no-ip.com account it would give me remote access to the router not the NAS unit. Following the EZ-internet wizard to set it up the DDNS info on the NAS unit finds the gateway info but lists the status of the DDNS as "Forwarding. Please wait..." (waited for an hour no change). When trying to access the no-ip.com account it times out saying the server is taking to long to respond. Hello, Like many people in this forum I have trouble in Windows getting a working internet connection (three wifi bars, with a yellow exclamation mark). I had a Realtek RTL8188CU usb wireless adapter which had issues. After trying almost every solution on the internet, I bought a different USB Adapter, a Sitecom WLA-2102 with the latest drivers. Same problem. I have reinstalled Windows 7 multiple times, and also Windows 8. Now I'm back at Windows 7. My Windows 7 workstation is the only device that does not get connected to the internet. There is a XP laptop I am on right now, several mobile phones/tablets and a Macbook. All work without any problem or configuration needed. I reset my router multiple times, tried different firmwares, turning off ipv6, disabled firewall, no antivirus... Righ
In the "Checkout" tab, I am wanting to copy rows if/when a cell (column "B") in that row is greater than zero. I need this macro to go to the next row and the next row and the next row until the cell in column "B" is blank. Once the selection has been copied, I need it to pastespecial only the values and not fomulas in the "Database" tab. I have attached an example spreadsheet. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I am using IE8 on Windows 7 X64. I went to the page Dropbox.com and signed in. Yet my name is not showing up in the webpage and went I l click on the done message in the lower left hand side of the webpage it states script error as shown in the picture script error.png. I have tried several ideas of 1) tools, internet options, advanced, disable script error in IE, and other, and unchecked display a notifcation in every script error 2) I went to security, custom, and disabled xss filter. 3) I emtpied all temp, cookies, history 4) I went to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308260 and tried these ideas and nothing helps 5) I even did a reset to IE which disabled all my add ons. I had java (7u13) installed in Windows 7, and when I tried to update I received the following error message: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package 'jre1.7.0_13-c.msi' in the box below. I have searched everywhere in my system for this file, but it is nowhere to be found! I no longer have java on my computer, but it still wants to uninstall what was there previously, how do I overcome this? Thanks in advance
Hi guys, I did a clean installation of Windows 7 on my PC as I had bought a new HDD two days ago - that worked fine. Yesterday as I was downloading all the windows updates the first time seemed to crash so I re-started the PC so I could re-download them, once that was done I re-booted the PC to install the updates (I presume it was SP1? Their was like 104 updates). Fairly standard procedure... During the install it was stuck for ages (over an hour) saying installing one of one... I presumed it had crashed and even though the warnings said 'Do not switch or power off the system' I pulled the plug anyway (I'm such a maverick). When I turned it back all I have is a black screen? The PC is powered up, everything lights up (HDD, Card readers/CD-Rom, PSU, and I presume the motherboard though I h

Hello (I'm new to this forum). System: Windows XP Professional (SP3) x86 Problem: My User Profile is having issues. It refuses to remember the window size of programs. If I resize a program's window (Adobe Acrobat) it defaults back to a standard size on the next open. Troubleshooting Steps: I created a temp User Profile to test. remembers the last program window size. I ran several programs such as: CCleaner, nmRegScrubPro, Microsoft Security Essentials, MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware. Everything came back normal. Question: Since I was able to have the programs function normally in a new User Profile, is it possible to locate, copy & paste the registry keys responsible for retaining the program window size? hi all can anyone help please, im on win 7 with IE9 and somehow my son has downloaded a programme called WebCaKe 3.00, its an adware programme and it will not uninstall and is now stopping me accessing things via the web, im running internet explorer without add ons at the moment, ive tried add/remove and it comes up with an error message, ive tried deleting from my hard drive, but it says its in use so I cant, ive disabled the add on in the tools setting, there were 4 parts to it, ive got rid of 3, but the actual application will not delete, ive googled it and followed all the instructions, ive run all my scans and they arnt picking it up, ive run the malicious software removal tool and a microsoft scanner both come back clean, and if you type it into the pc,s search bar it says it isn't
Out of the blue I can no longer see the preview of my INBOX email messages. When I click on each message, the TO/FROM/SUBJECT headers change in the preview box but the message body still refers to the very first message I received. I have turned the reading pane off, changed it to bottom, right and back to bottom but nothing works. I ran the Office 2007 install CD and used the REPAIR option but still no joy. Have Googled the earth for an answer but seems to only be me who has the issue. Forgot to mention that even when there is a message body showing, there appears to be a lot of flickering on what contents are shown that makes me think the compatibility view has an issue maybe as I mentioned above! Also checked my security settings and they appear (?) OK, any help appreciated! Thanks
