Hello all. I've been very grateful for your help in the past, and i hope you don't mind helping me once more. I am having problems connecting to the internet on my PC. The PC itself is fairly aged and is not wireless enabled thus it is connected to the modem/router using a cable. It was working fine yesterday, however when i tried to use the internet today it is simply not working. I spent a long time on the phone to my service provider this morning who have stated that it is not a problem with the internet service. In any case my son is able to connect on a wireless basis to his laptop (which i am using at present). The lady i spoke with was attempting to find the IP address of the PC, but we were unable to do this having gone through various methods. I would be most grateful for any advi
Hi everyone! My Word 7 uses Calibri font, size 11 as its default. Also it has double space as its line default. How do I change these defaults? I've tried everything. This version of Word 7 is for students and teachers - it doesn't have a 'help' feature. I used to rely on having that index of issues under 'help' available. Where do I get that for Word 7? Thanks. Maggie
On Windows XP, SMITE crashes when I launch the game. On 7, I can run it just fine with no issues. I am on 7 at the moment and in order for the error codes and messages, I'll need to go on XP.
Hello, I'm a Windows 7 user and I've recently been having issues with different things, and I'm not sure what the issue is. My computer is slow, has issues running programs/programs crash often, internet is spotty (though that could be an issue with the wifi rather than my computer), and I believe there is malware installed as well. My questions about a re-installation are as follows: First, will reinstalling Windows actually help alleviate any of these problems? Second, if I reinstall Windows, do I need to/how do I back up my files so that I don't lose any school work or information that I need on my computer? Do I just put it all on discs/flash drives, put it in a cloud server, etc.? Third, how do I actually go about reinstalling Windows? Is there a disc that I need to have, is it availa
Hey guys. About 4-5 months ago me and the family got this fifty dollar router from Belkin, and at first it seemed alright. Right off the bat, the internet was slow, it was crappy, and I couldn't do anything on it. I called belkin support and they told me to just ship it in and they'll give us a replacement. So I got my replacement, and guess what, its the same exact crappy internet I had with the first one. I looked online for different tips at making it faster, such as changing its channel to either 6 or 11. I've tried both channels and my internet speed didn't change in the slightest. My videos don't buffer like they used to, to takes at least 3 minutes for the video itself to even load and show up on the damn page, pages take too long to load, and while I'm trying to view a picture it g
Looking for some help trying to locate a reliable power supply unit for an old Foxconn motherboard (circa 2007!). The board in question is Foxconn P4M900-8RS2H . It's actually from an old emachines tower I salvaged from the in-laws I've been given a second hand graphics card ( ATI Radeon HD4870 ) that needs a bit more power than the standard 375 watt supply that came with. ATI recommend 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors. I've not delved into the world of PSU supplies before so if anyone can recommend some reliable products, I'd appreciate it. Noise isn't really an issue as this card is pretty loud and there's 2 quite loud cooling fans in the tower already.
My spec's are current. My Graphics card is getting hot and starting to cause what I call flash outs, no pic for split second. When this happens HWMonitor is showing 65C. Computer is used for web surfing, light game play from Big Fish Games and email. I don't want to spend more than $75.00 if possible; but will consider all suggestions. Thanks, Capt
I'm trying to reset my desktop to it's original WIndows 7 factory setting using the Windows 7 installation disk. First I found that the computer would not read any DVD disc from the DVD drive eventhough it recognised it. I did various troubleshooting without success. The discs didn't appear to be spinning at all, so, i understood from a few forums that it is probably dead. I bought a new esternal USB DVD drive today. I set the BIOS First Boot Device to USB - CDROM. I insert the W7 installation disc and click restart. During the boot process I am asked if I wish to boot from CD/DVD and to press any key. No matter what I do (as in what key I press) it just boots from the old OS on the Hard drive Can anyone help with this - I just want to reset the computer, format everything and rebuild. I d

I have dual operating System, although primary being Win7. I had a crashed windows, once, which I recovered with the OEM Dvd, but that was long time ago. The label of having recovered is still showing, and this really irritates, I am looking forward for help in this forum of how to get rid of this and bring it back to normal! The full story is.... When you click to boot windows in dual mode, or even if only windows is present on the individual partition, as I had checked it, even after removing the 'Boot-Grub' along with other OS, Windows than moves on to next screen showing, the recovered windows page, only after 'clicking' on that screen Win7 moves on to boot. I want to get rid of this 'intermediate' screen and wish that windows should boot, as soon as it is highlighted, as it used to do
Dear Friends; I have a Laptop “Hp 6910p” at home. It was working fine but now a problem appeared that its battery provides zero back up. When Laptop is plugged in, system works perfectly but when cursor moves at battery icon, there is written “44% available, (plugged in, not charging”. So as a result, if I unplug the adapter, system shutdowns immediately. Please help me how to fix this problem.
My motherboard wont read my videocard » Ive enabled PCIe in bios » Ive downloaded all the latest drivers. He said he plugged both in and tried them together and they worked fine. I get it here in vegas and now I cant get it to work. My mobo is an Asus P5GD1-VM/S and the GPU is an Radeon HD 6570.
I have just recently purchased the ASUS S200E Note book with Windows8 operating system. Not liking touch pads I purchased a Logitech mini wireless mouse. The problem I am having is that when typing text the cursor has a mind of its own. It will jump wherever it likes to amongst previously typed text, outside of the text perhaps to another command etc and it is driving me crazy. The last time I had such a problem with a new laptop it was resolved by turning off the touch pad. I have used information from the net in how to do this in Windows8 and having tried the suggestions e.g. control panel, hardware and sound, mouse, settings etc I can't find anyway of turning the touch pad off. Can anyone help me please fn+f9 doesn't work on this model either.
How often have you wished you could turn your lights off without moving an inch from your comfy couch? Researchers at the University of Washington are working on making that a reality with a device that interprets your gestures to perform commands for various devices, like pausing music and movies, or turning the lights off. The idea is similar to the one behind the Xbox Kinect— but this device does not require close proximity in order to work, since Wi-Fi signals can travel through walls. The researchers call it WiSee. IT security firm Kaspersky claims it has discovered the "most sophisticated" Android trojan yet. Identified by Kaspersky as "Backdoor.AndroidOS.Obad.a," the mobile menace can send SMS to premium-rate numbers, download other malware and install them on the infected device, as well as send malware to other devices via Bluetooth, and remotely perform commands in the console. Obad is also extremely well concealed, by means of code obfuscation, and it uses several previously undocumented security holes in the Android operating system to make it very hard to analyze. Hi. I recently set up a virtual machine of Ubuntu on my Windows Vista PC. Just days afterwards, regular downloads stopped working with multiple browsers in the regular Windows environment. I would see the download progress and the file size shown, but then I would not see the downloaded file where I downloaded it to. I also tried running the file instead of saving it, and it could not be run. I am wondering if using the virtual machine in VMWare Player and using the copy file from VM to Windows desktop function could have messed it up, since I seemed to have the VM for a few days before things got messed up. Web pages still load in Windows just fine, but not downloads. Regular things like file copying from folder to folder still work. It could also be from malware, specifically, a rootkit

Hello :D I've been having this problem for a while now. Whenever i've gone to edit any game footage that i've recorded using Fraps, it's been exported as very laggy. The footage is smooth and good quality when played after recording through Media Player or VLC, but when it's edited, these are lost. Here are some of the editing software i've tried: Sony Vegas Pro 12 Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Adobe After Effects CS6 Camtasia Studio 8 And of course, the basic Windows Movie Maker. All of these, when I have exported, it's either been blurry, it's flickered, or it's lagged out loads! The footage it hopefully going to make it's way to YouTube. Does anybody know how this can be prevented through any settings, or have another piece of editing software that I could try? I've been looking all over the i
