I'm trying to get my V2000 laptop to boot up. It will begin startup then give ESC, F10, and F12 options at bottom, but when I go to any of those options, screen goes to NTDETECT failed at top left, then begins reboot, does this a bunch of times on it's own, but I can never get it further than that point. If I hit F10, it goes to another screen with options, but doesn't get past that. F12 doesn't help either. I don't have recovery discs, and hadn't used the laptop in well over a year...pulled it out to see if I could fix it. Any help?
On Tuesday, Advanced Micro Devices announced the AMD FX-9590, the first 5GHz microprocessor for the PC—at a time, unfortunately, when even PC enthusiasts care little about the processor’s clock speed. The new eight-core 5GHz FX-9590 and 4.7GHz FX-9370 feature AMD’s latest “Piledriver” architecture, which was designed to allow higher clock speeds. They also come “unlocked,” which means that end users are free to push their clock speeds and voltage levels even higher. but with the risk that the chips may overheat. AMD did not say what the new chips would cost, although the company has tended to charge several hundred dollars for its premium processors. Consumers won’t be able to buy the chips directly— at least not at launch, as AMD will supply them to system integrators like Maingear, which
Hi, So I'm helping out a friend, and they want me to fix their pc. They used Internet Explorer for a while, and it's locking up pretty bad. Here's a list of issues: Unable to access Google.com from either browser (IE or Chrome) Multiple clicking sounds, as if I'm opening a link, when I'm not actually clicking. (This only happens when using IE) All links clicked in IE are popping up in new windows, and then that window locks up. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as a MalwareBytes scan didn't show any problems after a full scan. I have several users reporting the Out Of Office Assistant in Outlook 2003 isn't working. It works fine for others. Here is what I found: This is Outlook 2003 SP3 running on Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 in a Terminal Services configuration. When starting Outlook, the following message is displayed: Outlook experienced a serious error the last time the add-in 'outex.dll' was opened. Would you like to disable this add-in? To reactivate this add-in, click About Microsoft Office Outlook on the Help menu, and then click Disabled Items. If you choose to NOT disable the add-in, Out Of Office Assistant works just fine. If you choose to disable the add-in, Out Of Office Assistant no longer works. If you disable the add-in, you no longer get the error when starting the program. I have re-enabled
The power went off yeswterday and one of two pc's is fouled up. The other is ok. The current bad pc does not go online wireless. When hooked up with a cable IE comes up and and I can browse ok. But not with gmail nor Thunderbird. [However, there appears an instance when I got one email wireless today]. So, wireless nothing, cabled only IE. Rebooting doesn't help.
Alright here is my example. Each table has two columns. Table 1 a 1 a 2 b 1 b 2 b 3 c 1 c 2 d 1 Table 2 a 1 a 1 b 2 I want to have a query return a list of records from table 1 that are used in table 2 (easy part) and I want to have a third field that counts how many times the record appears in table 2. Table 1 records are distinct. So the query would return: Query 1 a 1 2 b 2 1 I've been trying to fit the SQL count function but don't have all that much experience. Thank you in advance!
Running Windows 7 Ultimate. In Windows Explorer, I have set to sort files by name in ascending order and to group by nothing. The files are in an approximate order by name; but, many files are out of order and only near where they should be. In the attached screen shot, only the right-hand column is relevant to the question. Please note that "201306events" comes before files with lower names such as "20130516beachparty". How do I fix this? Attached Thumbnails

I have Intel Core i3 550 (3.2 GHz) on Intel DP55SB Extreme Edition mother board with 4GB RAM and NVidia GTS 450 graphic card for office work for about 2 years. The problem is that it performs not very good from day one and sometimes restarts by using heavy applications. Recently I happened to use another pc with similar specs and it was much faster. When I further looked into my pc, its CPU Windows 7 experience index is 3.9 where as other computers with same CPU show WEI of above 6. All drivers are up to date and there is no problem with Windows as well. I have dual monitor setup with 21" , 19" LCD's and no extra peripherals. There is no problem with room temperature as well. What could be the possible problem, is there any setting in BIOS which is incorrect? I have restored BIOS to defaul
Hi All, My little computer is having all sorts of problems because the C drive is full. I only have 150GB, but last week it said it was 75% full. I have tried to clean off C but it still says its full. I can not open any web browser because it also says I have no virtual memory. I do not know what to do other then totally wipe it and restore it back to factory settings. with emachines you do not get a CD for the OS so I read your post on repairing XP but I have no CD the repair function should be part of their restore program, but that does not work either. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be helpful. I can not use my computer at all at the moment.
My computer video card doesn't have ports for dual monitors. I'm not doing anything strenuous like gaming, just need extra workspace for accounting office use. I have one workstation set up where the computer thinks the two screens are one large work surface and I would like to duplicate that set-up. I have a Dell Inspiron 570 MiniTower with an Integrated ATI Radeon HD4200 Graphics card. It is running Win7 Ultimate. Any suggestions on the least expensive way to achieve this? Do I get a new video card? Is there an adapter available that would eliminate the need for a video card? Any help would be really appreciated.
Lately I noticed something strange with my Laptop. Whenever I change something in the power plan it all works fine, except for when I change when my Laptop should sleep after being idle, nothing happens. For instance, if "Put computer to sleep" is on "never", and I change it to "5 minutes", it won't change the setting, even though it'll say "5 minutes" but it will still be "never". So i did a complete installation of the newest catalyst beta 2 (13.6) and when i open the configure switchable graphics from right click menu all i get is an amd home page This is exactly what i can see. It did work on the past versions although on some version it did not (even the final ones) I already tried uninstalling completely and installing them again, i also tried to install my default drivers from acer and that on top of it. Yet it still did that. Please don't tell me to uninstall the drivers and do a clean install because i did it like 15 times now. It's not worth my time. Also, i have this weird glitch on my windows 7 logon ui that makes the spinning circle static (i mean it won't move at all after it reaches the "Shutting down" text or when it's on "Welcome". I tried sfc /scan
This was posted in the win 7 forum, but It was suggested to me to move it here,,,sorry for re post windows 7 black screen w/ cursor after monypak removal Hello Forum, Thank you for such a great resource. Just a little about myself. I repair computers for several companies in my town and have always been quite successful with virus removal, even with the monypak. However, the last two windows 7 PC's that I've attempted this on, I've received the same results; black screen with blinking cursor. So apparently there is a new variant of this virus that when removed also removes necessary files windows requires to boot properly. Does anyone have experience fixing this? I'd be very thankful to find a fix for this as I know it will now be the norm for windows 7 and monypak. The virus was remove
