Beyma 15G40 Bass speaker and cab

I have for sale a Carvin 115 Cabinet upgraded with removable casters, new rubber corner guards and a Beyma 15G40 8 ohm speaker. The cab is carpeted and very clean.
This is a ported cab and there is insolation material inside the cab (another upgrade).
I see three options to sell this cab:
1. A local sell of this great sounding cab. $375
2. Selling the raw driver without the cab. $259 shipped con US
3. I could also sell the cab without the driver locally. The cab is tuned around 40 hertz so you have many good options driver wise. Buy it and put your own choice of driver in it. $129
Due the high weight *75+ lbs.) I am not shipping this cab. Packaging it would also be a bit of a nightmare.
The Beyma 15G40 is one of the best driver ever manufactured for bass. It sounds warm and has beautiful t

Tone Pot Question

'95 Peavey Foundation four string base w/ soapbar pups
Tone pot turned to about 1/4 turn cuts volume 70-80%.
Is this normal or bad cap? Quick look and saw a square green cap soldered to pot. Found a fiber washer lying in cavity, so someone been in there before. Doing what, I don't know.
First day with this bass, don't know how it was acting previously.
TIA for replies,
Troy

SWR Goliath 3, Strange Speaker Buzz

Hi,
I've got a pre-fender SWR goliath 3. The bottom left speaker has developed a slight buzz. Not a hum, or electric noise, more of a mechanical sounding papery buzz that increases with the volume/bassiness of the amp. Certain frequencies seem to cause it to buzz more. The louder and bassier the amp is set, the louder the noise becomes. The speaker still produces the bass sound fine, its like the buzzing is overlaid. There's no visual damage to the cone, however i've noticed firmly pressing on a spot towards the outer rim of the cone seems to muffle the buzzing to the point that it disappears. Anyone seen a speaker behave like this? I wonder if its easily repaired. Thanks.

Anyone doing a Sunday afternoon bar gig that draws a crowd

One of my bar owner clients wants me to produce some kind of music event that will work on a Sunday afternoon 3pm to 7pm. The current Sunday night Karaoke host is getting the boot for under-performing. I currently run a successful open mic jam on Thursday nights so the owner asked me if I could help. The bar does not have food but does have a BBQ joint next door that could be added to the promotion. The owner suggesting possibly a jazz / blues jam although this is not an upscale lounge that's going to attract real jazz musicians or fans. Just wondering if any one is consistently gigging at a club/bar on a Sunday afternoon ? What kind of music and crowds are you getting? Unfortunately this is a local neighborhood place that does not attract tourists near the beach. Nor is this a destination

Wiring diagrams?

I'm tinkering. I just bought a beater at a pawnshop. And older Charvel P with a Dimarzio Model One(I think) installed in the neck position. The mudbucker sounded fine(for what it is. nice output). The p sounded weak(original Jackson). The pots were scratchy and the jack was going out. The wiring looked like s***t so I just ripped it all out and shielded the cavities. Now I don't know how to wire it back up, or what pickup to use for the P. The routing is reverse from my more traditional P. If that matters(?)
Now, lets pretend I know absolutely nothing about electronics. But the bass isn't worth paying someone else to do it for me. I just need a wiring diagram and some suggestions on what works from people who have done this. I was looking at Bill Lawrence pickups on ebay, most of them are

Spector NS2A - Samick Era Model - $600 OBO in Canada Spector NS2A - Samick Era Model - $600 OBO in Canada

I've got a 1990 Samick Era Spector NS-2A that I'm needing to move to pay for some new gear.
The bass is in excellent condition, and currently has an EMG P/J set and an EMG BQC preamp on board.
The bass is in great shape with 2 very minor cosmetic issues - there is a small indentation above the P bass pickup is, the paint isn't missing but there is a small ding there. There is also a flaw in the routing around the bridge, as seen in the pic below - this is also minor but in the interest of full disclosure I want to be 100% upfront.
I'm looking for $600 shipped in Canada or $500 plus actual shipping to the lower 48.
I've done many transactions here on TB however I don't have a TB feedback rating since my TB dealings were before the feedback system began. My eBay username is rodharder780

MIM (2002) P-bass "restoration" project and CL feel-good story MIM (2002) P-bass

Hi all,
This is mostly just to share a recent quick and painless (for a change!) project, as well as a rare CL feel-good story!
A guy was selling his 2002 MIM P-bass that had been sitting at his parents house, untouched for 10 years. His parents live in a nice house close to my office. House was climate controlled so mostly the bass was dirty, but mechanically very sound. I spent about 3 hours cleaning it up and doing a full set-up, my version at least. First pick below shows the finished product. The other picks show the cleanup and setup process. The bass started with a white pg which I replaced with a nice red used one I found here on TB. And of course a new set of strings. GHS Brite Flats, light gauge. Love those strings on a P-bass.
The feel-good part: the guy lives on the west coast

Elixir's for Gibson Thunderbird?

Howdy!
My stock Thunderbird strings are dying on me, and I'm thinking of putting Elixirs on my favorite bass. I love the sound and the playability, and the durability! (as long as I dont use string cleaner on them, like I did once... Bad idea :p)
Does anyone have any experiences with Elixirs on a Thunderbird? Or could anyone recommend an alternative?

CIJ Vs PS Bass VI.

Which one would win in a fight?
I'm thinking of buying a bass VI. I like the look of the CIJ. Its much closer to the original and I love the Jaguar pickup switching. I'm not too sure about the quality. Pickups and electronics would probably need replacing and it could end up being quite expensive in the long run.
The Pawn Shop one is cheaper and looks like a solid instrument but I'm not sure about the strat style pickup selector. You can't use all the pickups at once which is the classic VI sound.
I played the Japanese one which I liked though some of the parts felt a bit cheap. Haven't tried the Pawn Shop one yet. I can't find one lol
Anyway, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions on these two instruments. Anyone had experience with ether of these guitars?
Thanks
Gazz

Drummer issues!

My band lost our drummer about a month ago (son died) he couldn't continue. Ever since we have tried to audition drummers (from craigslist) either they are professional good and someone else steals them or most of them are just people who think they can play! I'm looking for ideas to meet a drummer besides Craig's list. Can anyone help? I live in the Las Vegas area. Does anyone know someone stable reliable and decent in my area? Any help is appreciated!

Piccolo bass and OC-2

Hey there,
I was thinking today about the OC-2
and all of its deliciousness. While thinking
of said pedal, I thought to myself, "Hey,
what if a bass were strung with piccolo
strings?"
Any ideas or results?
Obviously it will track,
but I am more curious about it
maintaining that fat synth tone.
Also, they don't have to be piccolo
specifically, just a gauge that would match
the octave range of a bass' 12th frets and up.
Thanks for any help!!

Age and origin of my fender jazz

Hey guys,
I bought a used fender jazz a few years ago and now I am considering selling it. I wonder if anyone can help me determining where and when it s from?
So, its sunburst, 3 knobs, 2 pickups and on the silverplate it says V145314
On the head it says:
Fender Jazz bass trade mark electric bass, offset cartown B*ay ( the letters are a little hard to make out)
Pat. 2,573,254 2,960,900 2,968,2044
DES 187,001
Is it possible to determine from this?

So , I'm in the middle of a 5 string , neck thru body bass build and I have a question about my pickup of choice . I chose a Seymour's Duncan musicman style pickup with exposed poles . I'm making wood pickup covers for it , can I cover the poles and it not cause problems or do they have to stay open ? Thanks in advance. !
